Think Fast. Play Daily.
Privacy Policy
Witvello is a daily puzzle game for iPhone and Android. Witvello is operated by Great Vil Inc., a Canadian corporation based in Calgary, Alberta (“Great Vil”, “we”, “us”), which is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. This policy explains what information Witvello collects, why, who processes it, how long it’s kept, and how to delete it.
Summary
- You can play the Intro Five without an account. Practice results stay on your device.
- An account needs only an email address. We use it to send you six-digit sign-in codes and to contact you about your account, never for marketing.
- No ads, no advertising identifiers, no analytics or tracking SDKs, no selling of data, and no tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health data.
- You can delete your account and its game data in the app at any time.
Information we collect
When you create an account or sign in
- Email address. Used to send six-digit sign-in codes and to identify your account. Sign-in is passwordless; we never ask for or store a password.
- Display name. The name you choose.
- Player ID. A short random code generated for your account.
After you play a ranked Daily Five, your display name, player ID, level, score and rank appear on the daily and weekly leaderboards, which other signed-in players can see. Your email address is never shown to other players.
When you play
- Ranked Daily Five records: the day, the answers you chose, which were correct, your score, the XP you earned, how long the run took, whether it was finished, and the platform (iOS or Android) and app version you used.
- Progress: XP, level, current and best streak, puzzles solved, ranked runs played and achievements earned.
Technical information
- Sign-in sessions. While you’re signed in, our authentication service keeps a session record that includes the IP address and device user agent used to sign in. It’s kept until you sign out on that device or delete your account.
- Abuse protection. To limit excessive requests, we record the type and time of each request to our game service, linked to your internal account ID or, if you’re not signed in, to a keyed one-way hash of your IP address. Records linked to your account are deleted when you delete your account, and all of these records are deleted automatically after 2 days.
- Service logs. Our hosting provider records operational logs of requests to our servers (for example IP address, time, request path and user agent) for security and troubleshooting. Under our current plan, the logs available to us are kept for no more than 7 days. Our providers may also keep their own security records under their own policies.
When you contact us
- Support emails. If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to include, such as your device model, app version or player ID.
Stored only on your device
- Your sign-in session. On iPhone it’s in the Keychain, available only on that device. On Android it’s encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore and excluded from backups and device transfers.
- Intro Five practice answers and results. They’re never sent to us and aren’t saved after you leave the results screen.
- On iPhone, your choice for the “Let me know when it launches” Witvello Plus toggle. It’s not sent to us.
What we don’t collect
- No precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, files, camera, microphone or health data.
- No advertising ID, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no ads, no payment information.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account and to send sign-in codes.
- To run the game: deliver the daily puzzles, record answers, and calculate scores, XP, streaks, achievements and the daily and weekly leaderboards.
- To prevent abuse and cheating: rate limits, one ranked attempt per day, and stopping a deleted-and-recreated account from replaying the same day’s ranked set.
- To answer your support requests and handle privacy and deletion requests.
- To keep the service working and secure, and to meet our legal obligations.
We don’t use your information for advertising, profiling or automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Service providers
We use these providers to operate Witvello and share information with them only as needed for the service each provides. They handle it to provide their services to us, under their own terms and privacy commitments.
Apple (TestFlight and the App Store) and Google (Google Play) distribute the apps. They operate their own platforms and handle information under their own privacy policies; for example, TestFlight may share crash reports and feedback you choose to send.
We may also disclose information where required by law, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety and security of our players, our service or others.
Retention
- Account and game data: until you delete your account.
- Sign-in sessions: until you sign out on that device or delete your account.
- Abuse-protection records: 2 days.
- Deletion marker: if you delete your account on a day you started a ranked run, we keep a keyed one-way hash of your email address for 48 hours. It only prevents a new account with the same email from replaying that day’s ranked set, and it can’t be reversed into your email.
- Service logs: no more than 7 days under our current hosting plan, as described above.
- Sign-in email delivery records: kept by our email provider, Resend, for the period set by its service. Deleting your account doesn’t remove them from Resend.
- Support emails: We keep support emails for up to 12 months after your last message to us, and we review the mailbox monthly to delete older conversations. If you ask us to delete your account, we also delete your related support emails, except a short record of the request and when it was completed, which we keep for 12 months to show the request was handled. We may keep specific messages longer where we need them to meet a legal obligation or to resolve a dispute.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile → Delete account, then type DELETE to confirm. Deletion is immediate. It removes your sign-in identity and sessions, profile, display name, player ID, ranked history, answers, XP records, streaks and achievements, and your name and scores disappear from the leaderboards.
If you can’t access the app, email support@witvello.com from the email address on your account. Once we’ve verified the request comes from that address, we aim to complete the deletion within 30 calendar days, subject to applicable law. Details: Delete your account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, to withdraw consent, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can change your display name and delete your account in the app. For any other request, email support@witvello.com from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We respond within the time required by applicable law, and we aim to respond within 30 days. You may also contact the data protection authority where you live; in Canada, that’s the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy regulator.
Children
Witvello is intended for people aged 14 and older. It isn’t directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14. The current versions of the apps don’t yet ask for your age. If you believe someone under 14 has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
We use safeguards appropriate to the information we hold. Connections between the apps and our servers are encrypted with HTTPS. Database access is restricted with row-level security so players can only reach their own records, and scores are calculated on our servers, not in the apps. Sign-in sessions are stored in the platform’s secure storage on your device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Where your information is processed
Great Vil Inc. is based in Canada. We know your information is processed in these places:
- Canada: your account, gameplay and technical data, in our database and authentication service (Supabase, on AWS in ca-central-1).
- United States: sign-in code emails and their delivery records (Resend), and visits to this website (Netlify, served through a global content delivery network that may handle your request in a location near you).
- Location not yet confirmed: support emails, stored by Microsoft 365. They may be stored outside Canada.
Depending on where you live, this may be outside your province, state or country, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Information processed in another country is subject to that country’s laws, and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we’ll publish the new version on this page and update the effective date. If a change requires direct notice under applicable law, we’ll give it, for example by email to the address on your account.
